get the look: western ballerina

It was love at first sight when I came across the above image on Pinterest.  “If only I could get away with this on a regular day” was the caption…well, I’m here to show you that you CAN re-create this look and get away with it.  I’m not saying you should show up to the office in this outfit but it would be really fun for an evening out.  I’d totally wear it 🙂  Would you?

spring trend: two tone wedges + 20% off discount

I am just loving all of the new two tone wedges and heels that are popping up lately.  As I was browsing heels.com for the perfect pair of wedding shoes, I couldn’t help but admire the colorful beauties above.  It was difficult but I resisted the urge to order (for now!).  However, I did take advantage of the 20% discount the website is offering for using their beta site and ordered a few options for the big day.  The discount applies to the entire order but hurry, the offer ends on January 31st!

gossip girl goes gaga for vera.

Remember this post about my lovely sister trying on the Vera Wang bridesmaid dress that I fell in love with after seeing it in a magazine?  That is…until I saw the very strange details on the back and what it looks like on a real body… Well, I was totally amused the other day when I saw this still from an upcoming episode of Gossip Girl.

Since this image was released a couple of days ago, sales of the dress skyrocketed.  In fact, David’s Bridal Online is sold out of all colors except midnight blue (and only sizes 10 and up are available).  Sad news for all of you hoping to recreate Ms. B’s wedding but honestly, I think it’s a blessing in disguise 😉  No one wants a weird butt…not even if it’s Vera!

DIY Miu Miu Jeweled Heels

Hello barbies! I have an amazing DIY tutorial for you today brought to you by the ladies at Honestly…wtf.  They created a gorgeous replica of the jeweled Miu Miu heels you see below.  Read on for the tutorial or check out their full post here.  Happy bejeweling! 🙂

You’ll need:

With flat nose pliers, pry the prongs open to release the crystal rhinestones. Skip this step if you’re using loose, flat back rhinestones.

Squeeze some glue into a small dish or container. Pick up one of the larger rhinestones with the tweezers, dip the backside into the glue.

Press the stone into the top of the center of the heel. Add several other large stones around the top, gradually working your way down to the middle of the heel with smaller stones. Go back and add small round stones in bare spots. There is no right or wrong way to creating the pattern – have fun with it!

A tip: the smaller round stones will require the tiniest bit of glue. Dip a toothpick into the glue, dab it onto the backside of the stone and apply to the shoe.

Repeat the same steps on the other shoe . . .

And you’re bejeweled!

the ballerina bride.

Ever since laying eyes on the incredibly gorgeous ballerina-inspired bride above, featured here, I’ve had visions of beautiful ballet inspired weddings dancing through my head.  The shoes + the dress=perfection!  Below are some other images that make me swoon and wish that I could incorporate a little ballet in to my wedding.  It is too late to dust off my tutu?

Mismatched ‘maids| Engaged & Inspired

The mere utterance of the words “bridesmaid dress” can evoke cringe-worthy images of dated dresses with tacky fabrics, unflattering colors or ill fitting styles. Of course, this is (usually) not the case anymore as bridesmaids’ dress fashion has come a long way over the years. There are many wonderful dress options to choose from these days but I’m not quite sure that the promise of “You can wear it again” will be able to regain its credibility any time soon…what do you think?

Luckily for me, I have no desire to follow the tradition of having my girls dressed the same, so I’m letting them select their own dresses. That means the pressure of having to choose a dress that everyone likes is off… *phew!* My girls are all beautiful, unique and fabulous in their own ways and I want their dress selections to showcase that. I’ve given them a few basic “guidelines” to follow when selecting their dresses but other than that, it’s up to them.

The pictures below make me absolutely giddy and represent my vision for my mismatched ‘maids. Check out my Pinterest page for more bridesmaid dress inspiration!

“Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life.” – Anonymous

I must admit that I have been spending an unhealthy amount of time drooling over shoes online in search of the perfect pair to wear on the big day. Early on in my wedding planning I briefly thought about wearing cute flats the whole day but I quickly dismissed that idea after seeing so many fabulous shoe shots on just about every post of every wedding blog I stalk. I’ve decided to jump on board the killer heels train and to suffer through the inevitable pain…of course, I just might have to have an adorable pair of flats on hand for later in the evening…a girl needs options, right?!

When I began my search, I immediately fell in love with a pair of Gucci heels that are not even on the same planet as my budget. I quickly realized that many of the shoes I am drawn to come with hefty price tags. However, I also noticed that there are many knock-offs/similar styles out there to choose from. Lucky for you, I’ve done the dirty work and have put together some examples of high vs. lower priced shoe options that are sure to fit any budget. Check them out and let me know what you think!

I also came across some amazing DIY tutorials for making your own crystal shoes. One bride-to-be that is blinging out her own heels even covered the bottom of her shoes in glitter…such a fun idea!  Check out her tutorial here.

The question is, should you splurge or save on your wedding shoes? What type of shoes are you planning to wear? Are any of you planning on adding any fun details to your footwear?

My shopping guide to find the fabulous footwear featured above can be found on my original blog post here.

Gifts for the Girls.| Engaged & Inspired.

This week I featured my ideas for bridesmaids gifts over at Engaged & Inspired.  Some of my picks for possible gifts are above.  I am trying to stay away from items that can only be used for the wedding.  Coming up with ideas has been harder than I thought!  So ladies, help me out.  Have you started planning gifts for your girls?  Have you set a budget?  Ever been a bridesmaid and received a gift that you loved? Or maybe one that you didnt love so much (it’s okay, we wont tell….).
